Union Club Wedding | Kali + Jon

Photographing Kali and Jon’s day at Cleveland’s Union Club was the perfect kick off the start of this wedding season. During 2020, couples who planned a wedding definitely had to take “Love is Patient” to heart. Rescheduling wedding showers, engagement parties, ceremonies, receptions: EVERYTHING was turned upside down for anyone getting married. After having three wedding dates, Kali and Jon finally tied the knot at St. Gabriel’s in Concord and held their reception at the Union Club in Cleveland, Ohio. The traditional Catholic wedding ceremony was full of smiles and tears. For over a year, some family members had to stick to staying safe at home and didn’t get to be with loved ones. Joining together to celebrate Jon and Kali’s wedding day was wonderful way for family and friends to see each other again.

Magnet Street had the perfect invitation designs that coordinated with the delicate blue wedding color.

Kali decided to surprise Jon with a custom groom’s cake by Wild Flour Bakery.

Amy + Taryn | Mapleside Farm Wedding Brunswick, Ohio

Amy and Taryn selected a wedding venue with the most fantastic countryside view in Ohio. Mapleside Farm is a small apple farm located just south of Cleveland. With a picturesque views of the orchards in the valley below, the ceremony took place on the sunny hilltop next to the barn.

The Barn at Mapleside was designed with wedding receptions in mind so it had wonderful rustic charm, but a great seating for dinner and dancing. With such a lovely view outside of the barn, we stepped away from the reception for a few moments to get a sunset portrait of the bride and groom.

Judith + Aaron | Lake Forest Country Club Wedding, Hudson Ohio

As I edit the beautiful photographs from Judith and Aaron’s wedding for their custom album, I realized that I hadn’t shared this gorgeous outdoor wedding on my blog. Lake Forest Country Club in Hudson is a unique wedding venue with a beautiful Tudor-style club house for the bride and groom to get ready with wooded landscaped grounds for a first look.

With a light breeze, the weather was beautiful for their lake side ceremony at Lake Forest Country Club.

Plantscaping did elegant centerpeices with florals in corals and pinks for the tables for the indoor reception. Koko bakery created a really tasty wedding cake! When couples decide not to do a first look, it is wonderful to do an exchange of personal letters to each other on the wedding day before the ceremony. It is a moment I love to capture as a photographer.

A ceremony of smiles and happy tears followed.

The flower girl and ring bearer were rocking the portrait session!

We began their portraits just outside of the church after the ceremony. Olmsted Falls has so many beautiful spots to choose from for wedding photographs.

We headed downtown just before the rain rolled in to do a short session at Cleveland Public Library.

The reception at St Elias Church in Cleveland was the perfect venue for Erin and Gary’s celebration. Lovely uplighting filled the room along details of vintage dinnerware, custom etched toasting flutes and a yummy traditional wedding cake with some non-traditional donut touches. Mmmmm…donuts!

Guests enjoyed the selfie-sticks that were placed at the tables for fun candid photos!

The Cleveland Museum of Art is so beautiful to photograph in the spring. The trees are flowering and waiting for someone to have their portrait taken under blooms. Symonne was delighted to dance under their branches.

Esperanza Threads helping Cleveland

A few months back I had the opportunity to volunteer my photography services to an inspiring organization in Cleveland. Esperanza Threads is a small manufacturing group that designs 100% sustainable fabric products. While collaborating with Catholic Charities Migrant Refugee Services of Cleveland, volunteers train individuals to gain sewing skills and help them find employment. It was really special to photograph the volunteers and the migrants they train to help this non-profit.

Ursuline Sister Mary Eileen Boyle runs Esperanza Threads and she often goes to Northeast Ohio farmer’s markets to sell products they create. So as summer approaches, keep an eye out for the wonderful clothing designs that do good for the Cleveland community.
